Olas\u0131 ka\u015fifi 8. y\u00fczy\u0131l simyac\u0131s\u0131 Cabir bin Hayyan taraf\u0131ndan verilen ismiyle Yenime u\u011frat\u0131c\u0131, renksiz ve yo\u011funlu\u011fu y\u00fcksek s\u0131v\u0131. Bu denli korozif(a\u015f\u0131nd\u0131r\u0131c\u0131) olmas\u0131ndaki sebepleri g\u00fc\u00e7l\u00fc asidik yap\u0131s\u0131na ve dehidrasyon \u00f6zelli\u011fine bor\u00e7ludur. \u00c7ok \u00f6nemli bir kimyasal madde olan s\u00fclf\u00fcrik asit sanayide de\u011fme y\u00f6ntemi ya da kur\u015fun odalar y\u00f6ntemi ile \u00fcretilir. Bu y\u00f6ntemlerde k\u00fck\u00fcrt dioksit \u00e7e\u015fitli kataliz\u00f6rler(vanadyum pentoksit) e\u015fli\u011finde oksijenle y\u00fckseltgenerek k\u00fck\u00fcrt triokside d\u00f6n\u00fc\u015ft\u00fcr\u00fcl\u00fcr ard\u0131ndan k\u00fck\u00fcrt trioksit suyla tepkimeye sokularak s\u00fclf\u00fcrik asit elde edilir. S\u00fclf\u00fcrik asit \u00e7e\u015fitli deri\u015fimleri halinde g\u00fcbre, pigment, boyar madde, patlay\u0131c\u0131 madde, ila\u00e7lama, inorganik tuz ve petrol ar\u0131t\u0131m ve metalurji i\u015flemlerinde kullan\u0131l\u0131r. Ayr\u0131ca \u00e7e\u015fitli pillerin yap\u0131m\u0131nda da s\u00fclf\u00fcrik asitten yararlan\u0131l\u0131r. Halk aras\u0131nda \"ak\u00fc asidi\" diye bilinir. Elektri\u011fi iletir. Suda \u00e7\u00f6z\u00fcnd\u00fc\u011f\u00fcnde \u00e7ok y\u00fcksek \u0131s\u0131 \u00e7\u0131kar.  Piyasada sat\u0131lan s\u00fclf\u00fcrik asitler \u00e7o\u011funlukla y\u00fczde 78,93 ya da 98'liktir. Bulgaristan- M\u0131s\u0131r ve Rusyadan S\u00fclf\u00fcrik Asit \u0130thalat\u0131 yapmaktay\u0131z.<br><br>
